The multiview option is now available to more subscribers on YouTube, and this is not just an incremental feature bump. It is a fundamental shift in how people can experience live television and it comes with a level of customization that the streaming industry has never quite offered before.
What Is YouTube’s Multiview Feature?
YouTube’s Multiview option launched for YouTube Premium subscribers in 2023 and lets users watch up to four streams simultaneously on a single screen. The concept itself was not new but the version that existed before this update came with a significant limitation that frustrated subscribers consistently. You could watch multiple streams, but only the combinations that YouTube pre-selected for you. The platform decided what went together and you just watched but that is now completely changed.
What the Multiview Expansion Means for Subscribers
Starting with this rollout, YouTube is moving beyond just top recommended channels to give subscribers full control over their multiview experience. Users can now use the new multiview builder to select any live content they want to see.
YouTube officially launched fully customizable multiview functionality on April 28, 2026, allowing subscribers to select and arrange up to four live channels simultaneously from the platform’s entire lineup, including premium add-ons like NFL Sunday Ticket.
This is the part that changes everything. Your multiview screen is now yours to build entirely from scratch.
