Barbie has officially welcomed 23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams to Team Barbie with a new Signature collectible doll.
Launched on October 8, 2026, just before International Day of the Girl on October 11th, the doll celebrates one of Serena’s most iconic victories her 2005 Australian Open championship run where she won her 7th Grand Slam singles title after saving match points against Maria Sharapova in the semifinal.
The Design
The Barbie Signature doll recreates Serena’s memorable Melbourne look in detail:
– Neon green and white cutout crop top with mesh detailing
– Pleated white tennis skirt, white sweatbands, knee-high socks and sneakers
– Tennis racket and ball
– Big curly hair with a touch of blonde, a detail Serena personally insisted on
Serena said Mattel “nailed” the outfit from two decades ago and said she pushed for the doll to have strong muscles in the legs and accurate complexion and hair texture.
“Growing up, I didn’t see many girls who looked like me being told there was no limit to who they could become,” Williams said. “I want every girl who plays with this doll to see possibility, not just in me, but in herself. She can dream big, work hard, change direction, break barriers and become anything she chooses.”
More Than a Doll
This is Serena’s second Barbie honor in 2026. In March, Mattel gave her a one-of-a-kind Role Model doll as part of its global Dream Team celebrating eight female changemakers. This new Signature version is a purchasable collectible.
Priced at $45, it is available now on Mattel Creations, Target and select retailers. It comes with a display stand and certificate of authenticity.
As part of the launch, Barbie’s Dream Gap Project is donating to Mrs. Rina’s House of Blessings in Florida, a cause Serena supports that focuses on education and leadership for youth.
Serena joins her sister Venus on Barbie’s athlete roster, and their partnership actually spans 25 years, dating back to her first 1999 Play Along Toys doll with braids and beads.
